Reconciliation Barometer regional briefings, 2012
In 2012, the Reconciliation Barometer project held a series of regional briefings on the survey results in Port Elizabeth, Johannesburg, Durban and Bloemfontein, with the support of the Konrad Adenauer Foundation. Look out for more briefings coming up in your province in 2013!
On 16th August 2012, The Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung (KAS) and the Institute for Justice and Reconciliation (IJR) co-hosted a one-day national conference on Economic Justice for the Next Generation in Johannesburg. The conference focused on the economic participation of young South Africans, and the challenges they face in accessing education and entering the labour market. Conference proceedings were dedicated to three main themes of education and skills development, access to the labour market and youth participation and mobilisation, and included inputs from representatives of government, academic institutions, political parties, business, trade unions and civil society. These critical issues will also constitute the focus of the 2012 Transformation Audit, the IJR’s premier publication on issues related to economic inclusion in South Africa.
