The IJR’s Political Analysis programme is currently recruiting for two positions – an Administrator and a part-time Intern. Read the job descriptions below, and we look forward to hearing from you!
Administrator (from 1 March)
Responsibilities: Day-to-day administration of the Unit’s work, including capturing accounts, gathering of monitoring and evaluation data, logistical arrangements, distribution of unit outputs, and event coordination.
Educational requirements & skills: Grade 12 + 5 years experience in a comparable position; experience with budgeting and finances; high level of computer literacy, with spreadsheets in particular; strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to multi-task and work under pressure; ability to work both independently and within a team.

Political Analysis Intern
Internship: paid, 20 hours per week with initial 3-month contract. Applicants from South Africa and other African countries are encouraged to apply.
Responsibilities: Research assistance, statistical and qualitative data analysis, writing short articles for the Transformation Audit and SA Reconciliation Barometer projects, logistical and administrative support.
Skills: Strong research experience, excellent writing skills, proficient with Word, Excel and PowerPoint (SPSS an added advantage), ability to work independently and with attention to detail, fluency in French an added advantage.
Academic requirements: Applicants should be in possession of, or in the process of completing a postgraduate degree in Political Studies, Public Administration, Development Studies or a related discipline.
