I am very pleased to congratulate Professor Jeremy Sarkin on the announcement that his recent book, Germany’s Genocide of the Herero (University of Cape Town Press, 2011) has been selected for the 2012 Sunday Times Alan Paton Award Longlist. Professor Sarkin is a long-serving Board Member of the IJR, and his book provides unique insight into this relatively under-researched period in the history of Southern Africa. The short list will be announced this weekend at the Franschhoek Literary Festival – good luck Professor Sarkin!
